Mia Love Joins Former Congressman Allen West for Town Hall Meeting

Utah congressional candidate Mia Love held a town hall meeting in Sandy today. Former Congressman and retired Lieutenant Colonel Allan West was also present to endorse the Saratoga Springs Mayor’s campaign.

During the meeting, Colonel West says he traveled to Utah because he believes republican candidates like Mayor Love would restore principles of equal opportunity rather than equal results to the modern American Dream.

"See the most important thing that we need to talk about as republicans as conservatives, what we are for. The American people know what they’re against," West says.

Representative Jim Matheson defeated Love last November by 768 votes. Love began a new campaign in May and started early because she says she didn’t have ample time to reach voters last year.

"Well I think we’re going to get our message out," Love says. "I didn’t think we had enough time to get our message out to let people know who I am, what I believe in and the things I’ve actually accomplished in my city."

Her campaign strategy focuses on spending time with each and every voter she can.

"I think in order for me to reach as many people as possible, listen to their stories," Love says. "Listen to the things that really affect them in their lives. You have to start. I don’t believe in going out and just campaigning when it’s time to campaign. I think it’s important to get out and reach people as much as you possibly can."

Love says the house of representatives is the branch of government closest to people and her goal is to live up to it.
