Wednesday 12, The Murder of Emmett Till

By Doug Fabrizio

Emmett Till was a fourteen-year-old black boy from Chicago visiting relatives in Mississippi in 1955 when he was accused of whistling at a white woman and brutally murdered. The murder and the ensuing trial where two white men were acquitted intensified the racial debate in America. A new documentary premiering at the Sundance Film Festival and playing on PBS's American Experience looks at the place Emmett Till holds in history.
