Salt Lake City, UT – Not everybody gets Daniel Johnston's art or his music. Some see him as a kind of savant genius, creating frail, melodic songs stripped of self-awareness or irony. Today on RadioWest, we're profiling the acclaimed documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston. It traces the path of Johnston's life and explores the nature of his brilliance, which is both fueled and constrained by debilitating mental illness. The film's producer Henry Rosenthal joins us to tell the sad and strange story.
- Next Thursday, June 1st, The Sundance Institute will present a free screening of "The Devil and Daniel Johnston" as part of the Sundance Institute Doc Film Series. The documentary will be shown at 7:00 p.m. at the Jim Santy Auditorium in the Park City Library. For more information, visit Sundance on-line or call 801-328-3456
