Salt Lake City, Utah – The War on Terror is often confused as a war against Islam. The scholar Reza Aslan says infusing political conflicts with religious symbolism creates a cosmic war, a war between good and evil that no one can win. He argues that the only way to combat violent religious extremism is to strip away religious connotations and address the actual grievances. On Friday, Aslan joins us to talk about his ideas for countering jihadism and promoting democracy in the Middle East and beyond.
