VIDEO: President Joe Biden urges Congress to take action on gun laws

President Joe Biden delivered an impassioned plea Thursday night to Congress to act on gun control.

In an address to the nation, he called on lawmakers to restore limits on the sale of assault-style weapons and high-capacity magazines after a string of mass shootings in the country. Biden is trying to ratchet up pressure on Congress to pass stricter laws, though such efforts failed in the wake of past violence.

The speech follows the mass shooting in Uvalde that killed 19 students and two teachers last week, as well as one Wednesday in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where a gunman shot and killed four people and himself at a medical office. Biden said earlier this week that the Second Amendment was never an “absolute.”
