Utah's Senate race has evolved from a heavily favored Republican victory to one where the incumbent, Sen. Mike Lee, had started to show some worry regarding independent challenger Evan McMullin. Lee, who is seeking his second term, was a one-time critic of former President Donald Trump who has evolved into a staunch supporter. McMullin hopes to harness Utah's unease with Trump to claim the Senate seat — giving Utah a more moderate conservative senator alongside Sen. Mitt Romney. The state's Democrats didn't field a Senate candidate this election cycle, instead throwing party support behind McMullin rather than splitting the anti-Lee vote.
