Higher Speeds, Semis Allowed On Legacy Parkway
Semitrailers are now allowed on Legacy Parkway, after a ban on heavy vehicles was lifted on New Year’s Day. The ban was created in 2008 as part of an agreement between the state and environmental groups, which were fighting the project. Last year, some residents and lawmakers in Davis County tried to get the ban extended, but the effort didn’t go anywhere. The speed limit on Legacy will also increase from 55 to 65 miles per hour. — Nicole Nixon
California Man Dies In Ski Accident At Park City Resort
A California man has died after an accident on New Year's Eve at Park City Mountain resort. According to news reports, Charlie Noxon, 20, of Sherman Oaks, and the son of “Weeds” creator Jenji Kohan and journalist Christopher Noxon, died after a ski accident. He was pronounced dead by air ambulance crew after the afternoon accident happened on an intermediate-level trail, resort officials said. Parents Of Boy Who Lost Hand in Dog Attack File Lawsuit
The parents of a Utah boy whose hand was bitten off by two dogs while he was playing in his backyard filed a lawsuit this week in Utah state court against the owners of the dog, alleging negligence. The lawsuit alleges the neighbors and owners of the dogs should have known their dogs were vicious and unsuitable for a residential neighborhood with children. — Wire and staff reports
