“The River Tunnel” now takes passengers from one concourse to the other with a new plaza and revamped terrazzo world map waiting for them on the other side.

The new tunnel, slated to open in October, cost roughly $80 million. Nearly 7% of the cost was for an interactive art installation.

Four friends ran around the giant whale sculpture at 9th & 9th hundreds of times to reach 26.2 miles. Now, others are also running the “Whaleathon.”

"It's just really a testament to the important role that women have played in Salt Lake City's west side communities and the role that they still play today," said Better Days’ Tiffany Greene.

Salt Lake City is still figuring out what development exactly will go on the block, but the original murals will most likely come down.

Each year since 2018, the Mural Fest has brought together several artists from around the country and here locally. They just added 11 more murals to South Salt Lake.
