According to the FBI’s annual crime reports, Utah’s violent crime rates have declined to pre-pandemic levels. But the rates in Salt Lake City have seen a much smaller drop than the rest of the state.

The incumbent told supporters on election night that the results show voters want a city government that “prioritizes results over politics.”

Nadolski may be winning, but he won’t call himself mayor-elect just yet.

The 2023 Salt Lake City mayoral election is a ranked choice voting contest between incumbent Mayor Erin Mendenhall, ex-Mayor Rocky Anderson and independent/activist Michael Valentine.

The general municipal elections, typically held in early November, were moved to accommodate the election of a new representative in Utah's 2nd Congressional District. Election Day this year is Nov. 21.

The 2023 Ogden mayoral election, scheduled for Nov. 21, is between candidates Taylor Knuth and Ben Nadolski.
